REGISTRATION: Pre-Registration via email is required
FEE: $20 per participant (payable at event or via a link provided after registration)
EQUIPMENT: Proper hiking gear including good hiking footwear

Join Hike On Guides as we enjoy evening hike to the summit of Hunter Mountain and its Fire Tower to watch the sunset. This 6.8 mile round-trip hike climbs steadily on the Spruceton Trail to the summit and we will descend via the same route we took up.

Attendees should be dressed properly in synthetic layered clothing, wearing proper footwear. Attendees should also bring:

  • Headlamp/flashlight with extra batteries

  • Warm jacket, winter hat and gloves (it gets cold as the sun sets)

  • Water and snacks

FEE: Free (tips are appreciated if you enjoy the hike)
EQUIPMENT: Proper hiking gear including good hiking footwear

Join Hike On Guides as we climb Balsam Lake Mountain (elevation 3,729’), one of the Catskill Mountains 35 peaks above 3500 feet and part of the Catskill 3500 challenge. Balsam Lake Mountain is also home to the Balsam Lake Mountain Fire Tower, one of the Catskill Park’s six fire towers. We’ll maintain a relaxed pace on this 6 mile hike. Hikers will be rewarded (weather conditions permitting) with excellent views from the fire tower at the summit.

Attendees should be dressed properly for variable spring conditions, synthetic layered clothing, wearing proper footwear.

EQUIPMENT: Depending on early spring conditions, snow and ice may be present, so bring your own microspikes or snowshoes* and proper hiking gear

Join Hike On Guides as we climb Windham High Peak (elevation 3,525’), one of the Catskill Mountains 35 peaks above 3500 feet and part of the Catskill 3500 challenge. We’ll maintain a relaxed pace on this 7.3 mile hike. Hikers will be rewarded (weather conditions permitting) with an excellent views from near the summit.

Attendees should be dressed properly for variable early-spring conditions, synthetic layered clothing, wearing proper footwear and bring their own microspikes or snowshoes if there is snow and ice.

Join Hike On Guides as we enjoy a nighttime hike to the summit of Overlook Mountain and its Fire Tower. This 4.6 mile round-trip hike climbs steadily from Meads Mountain Road to the summit and back to Meads Mountain Road via the same route.

Attendees should be dressed properly in synthetic layered clothing, wearing proper footwear and bring their own microspikes or snowshoes* if snow and ice is present. Attendees should also bring:

  • Headlamp/flashlight with extra batteries

  • Winter hat and gloves

  • Water and snacks

The Catskills Great Outdoor Expo will be held on Saturday, April 4th from 10am to 5pm at the Best Western Plus Hotel and Conference Center, which is located 503 Washington Avenue in Kingston, NY (easy access right off the NYS Thruway).

Join Hike On Guides as we enjoy a nighttime hike along the Kaaterskill Rail Trail between the Mountaintop Historical Society campus in Haines Falls and the Kaaterskill Falls viewing platform.

This 3.5 mile round-trip hike follows a relatively level route along the former route of the Ulster & Delaware Railroad and is perfect for all abilities.

Attendees should be dressed properly in synthetic layered clothing, wearing proper footwear and bring their own microspikes or snowshoes*. Attendees should also bring:

  • Headlamp/flashlight with extra batteries

  • Winter hat and gloves

  • Water and snacks

REGISTRATION: Pre-Registration via email is required, as group size is limited due to hike being in a Wilderness Area
FEE: Free (tips are appreciated if you enjoy the hike)
EQUIPMENT: Depending on snow conditions bring your own microspikes or snowshoes and proper hiking gear

Join Hike On Guides as we climb Westkill Mountain (elevation 3,898’), one of the Catskill Mountains 35 peaks above 3500 feet and part of the Catskill 3500. We’ll maintain a relaxed pace on this 7.1 mile hike with approximately 1965’ of elevation gain. Hikers will be rewarded (weather conditions permitting) with an excellent view from the Buck Ridge Lookout just below the summit.

This hike follows a relatively steep route and will be icy and likely to be snow covered.

Attendees should be dressed properly in winter outerwear, synthetic layered clothing, wearing proper footwear and bring their own microspikes or snowshoes.
